Plymouth Rock and The Mayflower

We visited Plymouth Rock and the Mayflower II. Plymouth Rock is the place the pilgrims landed. I learned that Massachusetts is shaped pretty funny!

If you make a fist, and make sure your fingers are facing away from you, then stick your thumb out: that's what Massachusetts looks like! We drove to "the thumb" to see Plymouth, it is by the "bottom knuckle."

Plymouth is very old! I'm learning that many things in Massachusetts are old!

The first thing we saw was the Mayflower II, it was a really cool boat that was made to look exactly like the first Mayflower that the Pilgrams sailed across the Ocean in! It was pretty small, I can't believe they sailed all the way from England in that small boat! We couldn't take a tour because Apollo and Gemini were with us.
Uncle John was reading about the Pilgrams and learned a new cool fact. The Indians taught the Pilgrams how to grow corn in SAND! They used dead FISH as fertilizer! I wonder if that made the corn taste like fish?

Next we saw Plymouth Rock! This was pretty cool, but it had lots of fences around it so no one would hurt it.

I'm sure you know about the Pilgrims and Thanksgiving day. If you ever visit here in November, you can go to this place called "Plymouth Plantation" they will do special shows to demonstrate what it was like during the 1600's when the Pilgrams lived here. You can also have a very special Thanksgiving dinner here!

Something very funny happened when we left Plymouth too! We made a wrong turn and ran into a WILD TURKEY!!! I wonder if the Pilgrams and Indians saw the wild turkeys too and that's how they found them for dinner?
